How Long is the Surgery for a Combined Mini Tummy Tuck and Breast Augmentation?
What factors would prevent having a mini tummy tuck and breast augmentation together? If patients have had no prior surgery, would it be recommended to just have one surgery at a time then? Is the type of breast augmentation the biggest factor?

The combination of Breast Augmentation and Tummy Tuck is quite common and popular and is one type of "Mommy Makeover."
There are no typical factors that would prevent doing these two procedures together, and there are many advantages to combining the two procedures (rather than separately): less cumulative anesthesia time, less cost, less total recovery time and convenience of a single operation and recovery.

Breast Augmentation and Mini-Tummy Tuck
Everything depends on your anatomy. With very little asymmetry in your breasts and a relatively normal appearence preoperatively, the augmentation should take less then 1 hour. A mini-abdominoplasty should also be around an hour. So 2 hours of surgery time is the average. Add in to that anesthesia time of 30 minutes before and after as well as preoperative evaluation by the anesthesiologist and recovery room time, the total time will be around 4 hours.

This will save money, recovery time and most people agree that it does not increase the risks. The times can vary a little but for breast augmentation and mini abdominoplasty the combined procedures will usually take about 3 hours. Breast augmentation and Tummy Tuck can be safely combined. Beware, mini-tucks are often disappointing. Most patients will really benefit from Full Tummy Tuck. However many people wrongly seek mini-tuck because of "mini" attached to this name.
An operation that does not live upto its expectation is often a wasted endeavor.
If you have necessary budget you should have breast augmentation and whatever tuck in a single operation.

In patient who are healthy and have had no prior surgery, the combination would take approximately 3 hours to perform. By having both operations done together, there will be less time away from work and less recovery time overall. In addition, most patients prefer having one episode of anesthesia rather than two separate ones. The surgery for the combined procedures depends on who your surgeon is and exactly what is needed during your particular procedure. In my experience the average case you're describing is likely about 4 hours. I typically perform abdominal liposuction as part of a 'mini' abdominoplasty and I am including this in the time mentioned.
