Long-lasting Redness After Facial Dermatofibroma Excision?

I had a dermatofibroma removed from my forehead 8 months ago. The scar itself has healed satisfactorily, but I am unhappy about the redness surrounding it. For the first 4-6 weeks after stitch removal it was very red, and had little white flakes of skin that came off occasionally. Following that, it stopped flaking but remained red in the same area, about the size of a thumb's nail. 8 months have now passed - will it ever fade back to normal, or is there anything I can do other than wait?
