How Long Does Hemosiderin Staining Last? (photo)

I had a cut, a surface graze on my right ankle in 1997, the hemosiderin staining gradually faded over 15 years. Then November 2011, I broke my right ankle, and the whole foot and lower leg area now has it, and the stain from 1997 is increased. I recently saw my doctor who told me it is hemosiderin staining, I never heard of it before. The darker stain on the right side was from 1997. I have shown both feet for comparison purposes.
