I would have to drive myself to my post-op visits after the 1st week. The second post op visit, I believe, is about 2 weeks after surgery. Would you recommend it is ok to drive long distances (1 hour) after 2 weeks? The total drive would be 2 hours. This is the location I liked the best but I want to make sure that it is ok to drive myself to the post op visits.
Answer: How Long Until I Can Drive Long Distances (1 Hour) After Breast Augmentation? Always best to run these types of questions by your plastic surgeon who knows your situation best and is ultimately responsible for your care. Having said that, most patients are able to resume driving within one week. Of course, you will want to be off medication and be able to respond to an emergency. Best wishes.

Answer: How long until I can drive long distances after breast augmentation? Thank you for the question! Certainly, discuss this with your plastic surgeon, as answers will vary among surgeons. I typically say that whenever you are not taking narcotic pain medications and when you feel like you are strong enough to turn the steering wheel suddenly if needed, then you may resume driving. If you meet those requirements, take short trips around your block with somebody and see how you do. Best wishes!

Answer: Driving after breast augmentation
Driving means that yuo must be in control of the car.
If yuo think yuo could swerve the car to avoid an accident if needed, then yuo can drive safely. If not then yuo would be unsafe to yuorself and others, so yuo should think of another way to get around.
I hope that gives yuo some idea, and yuo can then judge the best plan forward

Answer: How soon can you drive long distances following breast augmentation surgery?
This is a great question that I wish more patients would ask! I agree with the other doctors that you want to wait until you are off the pain medications (narcotic prescriptions) before you drive any distance, as they can impair your abilities to respond quickly and with good judgment. Once you stop taking any pain medications you should be able to return to driving as long as you can comfortably lift your arms as high as the top of the steering wheel without difficulty or pain, open and close the drivers door, and other activities you normally encounter while driving. Do a practice in your driveway to make sure you feel comfortable. Also plan enough time for travel on the day of your post op visit so you can stop if you feel tired or are having difficulty during your long drive. By taking these precautions you should do well.

Answer: Recovery after breast augmentation You may well be able to drive an hour after a week, but you should play it safe and have someone drive you at one week. At two weeks, you will be able to drive yourself. When I have patients that live that far away, I try to minimize the number of post op visits in any way which is practical. You should discuss this with your surgeon. Maybe you could be seen back only once, say in about ten days.
