Gastric bypass weight loss

Gastric bypass patients will lose most of their weight in the first 12 - 18 months after surgery and on average lose 60 - 80% of their excess weight but regain 10 -20% of their excess weight over the next 2 -3 years with long -term weight loss of about 60%.  Lap-band patients lose the weight slower over about 3 years and average about 60% excess weight loss as well.
