Tummy drainage

If the drainage is definitely from infection then the drainage should cease any day now.  If the drainage is from a seroma then this may take two weeks or so to cease.  Continue to follow your surgeon's advice. Keep your chin up.  Good Luck Dr.ES

Drainage after an infection

Variable to time. It depends upon the type of infection, severity, the treatment, the reaction from the body. On average a few weeks to months. But seek opinions from boarded surgeons in your area. From MIAMI DR. B

Drainage after a tummy tuck

The length and amount of drainage depends on the source and the cause. If it is an  infected permanent suture, it may not stop until removed. IF it is due to dead tissue, it will not stop until the tissue has resorbed or been resected. Discuss this with your surgeon. The drainage is not necessarily a bad thing and may indicate that something else requires treatment.

Aggressive treatment needed for tummy tuck infection.

Hi. Persistent drainage after tummy tuck is a bad sign.  Could mean seroma, hematoma, or infected internal stitches.  Sonogram may help.
