I chipped my tooth a year ago and my dentist used herculite to bridge the gap. I'm very self conscious that the repaired tooth is much shorter and also slanted. Another dentist (whom I saw when my regular dentist was away) said the only option is to shave the other tooth though I fear this could go wrong and worsen the appearance. Any further advice?

Thanks for the photo. You may have two options for this problem. The first is having the area bonded. It's very easy to do and modest in cost. You will need to be cautious with the bonding because it can be chipped just like your tooth did. The second option may be to simply smooth the area very...
I would consider visiting an orthodontist to have your bite evaluated and see if braces are needed. Your front teeth appear fairly straight but may not be giving your teeth the correct guidance they need to keep from chipping.
Emergency dentistry can be done at anytime during pregnancy. Make an appointment with a dentist to see what needs to be done and then call your OB for reassurance you can have the treatment.
