I have an open bite anterior and have gotten two different treatment plans from two different orthodontist. I was told first that Invisalign should correct my open bite and it will take about a year. But a second orthodontist is telling me that Invisalign will not close it properly and that I need actual braces to fix the problem. Can someone please look at the photos and tell me what to do?

Orthodontics (standard) and Invisalign will not correct underlying cause and will likely relapse. Answer: Will Invisalign correct my open bite? An open bite can occur for many reasons, skeletal, thumb sucking, tongue thrust etc.The upper teeth get pushed up and the lowers down.Any orthodontic system can close the open bite but in some cases actually doing so may make the upper or lower teeth show too much. Normally up to 4mm of tooth should show at rest, but closing the open bite can create too much tooth visibility.My advice would be that if you are wanting to close the open bite and are happy with long teeth then closing it would be fine. If however you show too much tooth then pulling in the teeth and making them flat and nearly closing the bite should be fine.Either system will do in the right hands

Answer: Open bite Invisalign will work just fine. The important part of your treatment will be keeping the teeth in position after completion. You will be a "retainer every night for the rest of your life" person.

Answer: Either will work in the right hands More than likely, the orthodontist that said Invisallign won't close your anterior open bite likely does not treat many cases with Invisalign. Invisalign can fix that in the hands of a skilled orthodontist who has successfully treated many cases (like 250+). You likely have a tongue thrust too so wearing your retainers when finished will be critical.
