Does the cartilage swell up as well as the skin after rhinoplasty?

I had tip and alar base reduction last week and my tip looks even bigger than before! Even though the whole aim was to make it smaller. So I'm wondering whether the surgeon did not do as requested or whether it's still really swollen. Although my skin is swollen I don't think it's only skin because the tip is so big and it feels hard so is the cartilage swollen too? N.b I have thick/oily skin.
