Do I Qualify a Liposuction in the Calves?

I'm not sure if I can benefit from this procedure. I have somewhat thin ankles but right after about an inch up there is a bulge that feels like muscle on the outside. The view of my ankle from the back is the most unsightly view. I weigh 115 lbs. so I don't think it is a result of being overweight. Would Liposuction help me? Thanks!

Maybe

You may indeed be a good candidate for lipo of the calves. Looks like your skin is good regarding elasticity. However, you must be examined to be sure that other things aren't present, like a lipoma. If both legs are symmetrical, you likely have excess fat pads. If you have about a centimeter or more thickness it can be improved. You need to discuss with your surgeon.

Liposuction of the calves

You may get a significant improvement, but expect many months of swelling and bruising can be considerable and last for many weeks. See a surgeon who has had a great amount of experience doing liposuction on this body site.

Liposuction is possible in calves but recovery is prolonged

It appears that you could benefit from liposuction of the calves. Please understand that this is a prolonged recovery. Ultimately, your best option is to be evaluated by a surgeon with experience in this area. In my opinion, there are no speciific advantages the ultrasonic-assisted, laser-assisted, water-jet, etc in this anatomic locale so avoid the hype. You will need to wear prolonged support and compression in this area and it may take several months to appreciate the final result.... more

Liposuction for calves

Liposuction for the lower part of the calves and above the ankles can be done to improve the contour... IF the contour irregularity or fullness is from fat and not muscle. The only way to know for sure is to see a plastic surgeon and let him/her examine you. If there is truly thickness associated with fatty tissue, then that would be possible to improve with liposuction. This is somewhat of a difficult area to treat. It is really a delicate procedure to remove superficial fat and to not cause d more

Liposuction of the legs

Lipsocution of the lower legs can be effective for patients who truly have thick lower legs secondayr to fat.  From the photos, it loooks reasonable but a formal exam would be necessary.

Liposuction will improve the calves or "cankles"

When the calve seems to blend right into the ankle, some have called the look "cankles". In looking at the photo, without the benefit of an exam, it looks like you are a candidate to have liposuction performed there for improvement. Tiny incisions are made at the ankle and the procedure is done with local anesthesia and sedation.

Liposuction of the calves

Liposuction of the calves can be very effective when done in the right patient.  From the picture, it looks like you may benefit from the procedure.  As long as there is a lay of fat, not just muscle, then you should see noticeable results.

Yes if it's fat.

If when the surgeon feels this and determines it is fat, then a liposuction will improve the appearance of your ankles. If it is muscle, it won't.

Ankle liposuction

Judicious liposuction of the ankles and distal calf can produce very noticeable and attractive results. A thorough physical exam is necessary to determine this. One can usually determine what portion of the contour is fat by standing on your toes and palpating the muscle and tendons. Of you can't feel the mucle contract, it is probably fat that can be suctioned. In general, in the area to are referring to, there is not much muscle mass since the muscle become tendinous as it nears the ankle... more

Liposuction may improve the contour of the lower leg/calf area in selected patients

If the fullness in the location in the photo is from fat, then lipo can improve the contour slightly. A physical exam would be required to confirm Suction assisted lipectomy in this area is more of a finesse procedure with some trade-offs. Be realistic about the outcome. you should be able to obtain a result that is visible, but it may not be dramatic. Also it takes significantly longer for swelling to resolve in this area and you will likely need to wear compression socks , perhaps for... more
