My husband has a lipoma on his left shoulder blade the size of a golf ball and loses the feeling in his arm every so often, suffers alot of backpain and has muscle wastage in left arm, I think its his median nerve being affected. Would any of these symptoms be associated?

Lipomas and nerve damage
Lipomas can indeed put pressure on nerves and may cause pain. What you have described in your husband may be related to a problem in a neck disk, and should be further evaluated.

Lipomas and nerve pain
A lipoma, particularly a sub muscular lipoma, can impinge on a nerve and thereby cause pain. It is important to deal with lipomata before they become too large and symptomatic. Also, patients with lipomatosis, who form many lipomas, occasionally report that pain in their lesions. The best thing to do is to see a plastic surgeon about removal of the lipoma.
