What Incision is Best for my Breast Implants?

I am 52,5'5", 115lbs. Ribcage is 30.5"/34A. I am planning BA using round, silicone (gummy bear) implants placed sub-muscular (b/c I have little covering breast tissue). MD thinks 250cc would be a nice natural look but that 300cc would better fill out the loss of volume. He can use ax, sub-mamm, peri-areolar access. Based on my stats:1) Does 300cc sound like a proper size to be perky yet natural? 2) Which access is most aesthetic with least complications? 3) Project: mod+ or high? 4) Do I need a lift?

Best approach for placing breast implants

I agree with some of the comments.  It is impossible to recommend an implant size without an examination.  However, the simple test is to make sure the implant height and weight is appropriate for your breast height and width. Regarding approach, it is not the approach which results in a nice breast shape. It is the surgeon's technique and aesthetic eye and the pre-operative sizing which results in the final result.  I have performed hundreds of breast... more

"Best" approach for Breast Aug depends on your anatomy

I offer three approaches for breast augmentation: a) periareolar: the junction between the pigmented areolar complex and breast skin; b) inframammary: in the fold where the breast meets the chest wall; c) transaxillary: through the lowest hair bearing armpit skin.  Each approach has its merits and disadvantages.  The periareolar (PA) scar is generally well camouflaged, but can become depressed in the event of capsular contracture.  There is also the theoretical... more

According to your photos, you do not need a lift as your nipple rides above the crease. I would advise mod +throught the crease as that theoretically has lowest potential for biofilm formation. I am not sure you would be able to fit a gummy through your samll areola anyway.

Breast implant choices

It is difficult to tell you what implant would be best for you without a proper exam and history.  You only show one photo and it is difficult to say from tha one view.

Any incision for breast augmentation is good if its done appropriately

Any incisional approach for breast augmentation is good unless you have some anatomical limitations (i.e. very small areola, no breast crease,etc.). You and your surgeon should decide what works best for you. From this side view photo, it is hard to estimate the size of implant that would be appropriate for you. Size dependes on your breast base width, amount of tissue to cover the implant adequately. You will not need a lift, your nipple is above the inframammary crease already. By the... more

Breast augmentation needs to be carefully planned.

Hi. 1)  300 ccc breast implants will make you quite large. 2)  You do not need breast lift. 3)  Sub mammary approach best by far for you. 4)  Moderate plus profile implants best. 5)  The real question is :  Do you have confidence in your surgeon?

You do not need a lift

My favorite approach is a circumareolar incision and I use round silicone implants over the muscle. You do NOT need gummy bear implants which are not readily available. They are harder and require a much LARGER incision which would be submammary and would be much more visible. I still think that round silicone are the best implants and will give you the best result.

Recommendations for breast augmentation

The size of implant is based n body type and personal preference. It sounds like your body can "hold" a 300cc implant without looking unnatural. The only way to really know is to try on the different size implants and compare. In my office, I routinely allow the patients to "borrow" the implants so that they can try them on in the comfort of their own home and take them on a "test drive" for a few days. The incision placement again is a preference issue.... more
