I has implants 5 weeks ago, my doctor put 600cc unders in both and 1 breast was larger to begin with, she suggested to do a lift on 1 that is larger a year after they drop and get into place, it is still larger and saggy, the areola is bigger on that one too. will the lift help all of this, my surgeon said yes but i am question why she wanted to wait if the lift was on one breast, I am waling around with uneven breasts still and I guess I was not prepared for that

Breast Lift surgery at the time of Breast Augmentation to correct uneven breasts

No one has perfectly even breasts! When consulting for breast augmentation some women are suprised to hear from a plastic surgeon that they might also need additional breast lift surgery in order to even out their breasts. For some women this is a hard pill to swallow, either because of additonal cost of breast lift, or just that they don't want to hear that they don't have perfect breasts. If breast asymmetry or ptosis or sagging does not get addressed at the time of breast... more

Uneven breasts after implants, a lift can help

Based on the asymmetry that you had before breast augmentation the asymmetry after is perfectly understandable and yes, and breast lift will improve your symmetry. Depending on preferences and challenges from the breast implants, staging the lift is an acceptable approach as the skin envelop will give and stretch to accommodate the implants, and may affect the breast lift. Right now be patient, and the lift later will improve your result. Best of luck, peterejohnsonmd more

Solution for Uneven Breasts

A breast lift will reshape a breast and reposition the nipple on the breast, it will not directly affect the breast size. A breast enlargement will accentuate any pre-existing breast volume asymmetry. If the breast size is uneven after breast enlargement a revision may be necessary and the placement of different sized implants may help.

Uneven breasts after augmentation

You con't include your preop photos but it looks like your Right breast may have been tubular in which case you have a good result given the very difficult situation.  If this is the case, you should follow your surgeon's instructions, keep all of your follow-up appointments and be patient.  I think your surgeon is being very prudent waiting until the shape and nipple position has settled. My guess is that you look fine in a bra or swimsuit.  You will look even better... more

Breast augmentation and breast lift surgery

It is possible to perform a breast lift at the time of breast augmentation, but in some cases it may be advisable to perform one surgery first and the second one at a later stage. It is probably too early to be considering revision at only 5 weeks after surgery, but you should continue to follow up with your plastic surgeon and abide by her recommendations.

Breast asymmetry can really be corrected.

Hi.  Of course don't do anything for six months, but I think you will need a revision. Just going by your one picture, here are some of my thoughts. 1) Smaller implants (500 cc maximum), and of course a different size for each breast. During surgery, we put sterile implant sizers in your breasts to see which give the best shape and symmetry, and only then, we open the permanent implants. 2)  The fold under your right breast needs to be lowered. (It would be... more

Uneven breast size 5 weeks after implants--is a lift needed?

First of all, at 5 weeks post-op it is entirely too early to be talking about revisional surgery. You need to wait at least 3 months, and most of us would recommend 6 months or more. The longer the time before re-operating, the more likely you will not be trying to equalize breasts that are still healing, settling, and perhaps with implants dropping. However, when a patient has breasts that are asymmetrical pre-operatively, and then has identical implants placed in each side (and no... more

Never be right

It appears from your photo that your implants are an inappropriate size and dimension for your breast. Even on the "Good" side, there is too much implant above the nipple/ areolar complex. The diameter of a 600cc implant is just too large for you. In order to center the nipple on the implant ( as it should be), you would need to lower the fold not raise the nipple even on the left. By doing so, the implants would  then be too low on your chest. Implants should be chosen by... more

Staging a lift

While I usually do a lift and augmentation together,. it is perfectly reasonable and sometimes preferred to delay the lift and allow the breasts to accomodate to the implants.

Staging procedures

It is not uncommon for a surgeon to stage a breast lift and augmentation. Some doctors prefer to do this at the same time while others stage them. You are still fresh out of surgery and in the beginning stage of your recovery. Your implants will settle and soften over time. Continue to see your surgeon for regular follow up appointments and good luck with your next procedure!

Asymmetric breasts

Each case and each patient must be apporached differently so i cannot give you any specific answer. If you had significant asymmetry to begin with, a detailed discussion pre-op should prepare you for what asymmetries will persist. In trying to correct asymmetries, you must be prepaeed for imperfection. For example, if you only did a lift on one side, the scars will be asymmetric. You would need to do at least a lift with a vertical scar since a periareolar will probably increase the diameter... more

You should have a lift

The lift will help with the aerola reduction (making the dark part around the nipple smaller).  You should have the lift on both sides.  You can make the size more even if you place different size implants or if you reduce the size of your natural breast at the same time as the lift.  Good luck!

Your surgeon is right

You will need to have lift and staging the augmentation and lift later is the safest way to go. You cold have had lift first and implant later.

Staging a breast lift after breast implants

Based on your photos, it is reasonable to wait until your implants settle down before doing a lift.  The reason to do this is ensure a healthy blood supply to the skin and breast tissue. This is a good way to ensure having even breasts in the end. Be patient right now and follow up with your plastic surgeon at regular intervals. Best wishes, Dr.Bruno
