Rhinoplasty depressinon.

It is far too early to make any judgement about your nose. It takes 6-12months to see the final result.

Nasal Asymmetry 6 Weeks after Rhinoplasty

At 6 weeks you probably have normal asymmetrical swelling. You will see significant changes over the next 6 weeks. Share your concerns with your surgeon.

Nose Crooked and Asymmetrical? What Does Your Surgeon Say?

You must discuss with your surgeon right now. Not that he can or should necessarily re-operate immediately but because you need to know. You need peace of mind. It may well be that swelling is a factor and that things will get better. But, frankly, at six weeks, the swelling should be diminishing and so should the asymmetry. If your surgeon's response is not fulfilling, a second opinion with an experienced nasal cosmetic surgeon is recommended. Be sure to bring all your... more

Rhinoplasty - asymmetric nostrils

It's impossible to properly assess you without examining you or at least seeing you in person.  6 weeks, you are still healing from you surgery and it's not unusual to have asymmetric swelling.  You seem very upset and my best advice would be for you to see you rhinoplasty surgeon and talk to him/her about what's bothering you.  I'm sure he/she would be more than happy to discuss any of your concerns. Dr. Cat Begovic M.D.

Asymmetry after Rhinoplasty

Healing after a rhinoplasty can take a long time. In general, 50% of the swelling is gone at 6 weeks, 75% of the swelling is gone at 6 months, and 90 -95% of the swelling has resolved at a year. Minor changes may continue to occur after that. You did not post any preop nor post op photos. Without seeing your nose, we can only write in generalities. Most faces and noses are not symmetric. People look more closely and examine their noses after surgery and discover features they had not... more

6 wks post op

Anon: There will be differences between sides, more so on the early months after surgery. However the difference should be reasonable, and reasonable means different things to different people. Have close follow up with your surgeon, post a picture or get a second opinion in person to determine if you are within the normal range of asymmetry.   Michel Siegel, MD

Post Operative Differences Following Rhinoplasty

It is common to have differences between the two sides of your nose following rhinoplasty.  Often, these are related to swelling and will resolve over the months.  At that point, you will have an idea what your final result will look like.

Nose Asymmetry soon after rhinoplasty (nose surgery)

It is difficult to answer your question without photos and examination. However, at 6 weeks it is not unusual to have swelling which may give the impression of asymmetry.  It typically takes 6-12 months for the nose to settle in after nose surgery. I recommend waiting a few more months and if there is no improvement at all, discuss your concerns with your surgeon.

Nose assymetry after rhinoplasty

Some asymmetry is completely normal after rhinoplasty.  You may want to look at your before pictures and recall the way you looked before.  I am sure you have discussed this with your surgeon.  There is still a lot of healing to do and the nose will continue to change.  Don't be depressed.  A bit of psychological letdown is very common after this surgery.  Keep a good dialog with your surgeon and rest assured that the ultimate result will most likely be... more

Irregularities of the nose seen at 6 weeks

At 6 weeks, you are still very early in the healing process for a rhinoplasty. It can take up to a year for virtually all of the swelling to subside. It is possible that the deviation that you see now may be a sign of the future appearance. You will have a better idea at around 6 months. Some of the other issues may actually improve with a decrease in swelling. Let your surgeon know your concerns. If a revision is needed, you may need to wait up to 1 year.

Nasal asymmetry

To understand the difficulties or assymetry you are experiencing, it is necessary to have your preoperative photos, postoperative photos, and operative note available.

Rhino Swelling at 6 weeks

Hi Anon500, As other surgeons have noted it is common for there to be asymmetry - on every part of the body.  That is certainly true on the nose and, because of its central and prominent location, any asymmetry is particularly noticeable. You may, therefore, wind up with a certain degree of asymmetry (and there may have been some beforehand) but, regardless, it is MUCH too early to be concerned about this now.  It takes many weeks for much of the swelling to go down, and... more

Swelling after rhinoplasty takes 6-12 months to resolve

You may have heard this and all the answers testify to this. Also, our body is NOT symmetrical. One side differs from other side. Basically, one side is longer than the other. This includes the face. If you look at any face, you will find out that one eyebrow is lower than the other. Sometimes this is very obvious while other time, it is not. This is due to facial asymmetry which makes one side of the face slightly shorter than the other side. The nose being in the center of the face,... more

Rhinoplasty Recovery

Recovery from rhinoplasty can take some time for the swelling to resolve and the tissues to settle.  I would suggest discussing your concerns with your surgeon.  Without examining your for seeing before and after photos, it is difficult to give specific advice.     Good Luck.

Asymmetric Nose 6 weeks after Rhinoplasty

Hi anon500, Rhinoplasty procedure has many components, as a result the nasal tissue will be appropriately swollen the more extensive the surgery. Commonly, the nose may appear larger or bigger than anticipated immediately after plastic surgery. Numbness is expected too. Most nasal swelling resolves within one month, generally. The remaining swelling gradually improves very slowly over several months. 6 weeks is still relatively too early to judge anything, especially without photographs.... more

6 weeks post rhinoplasty

It is way to early to see the final result of a rhinoplasty.  You have to give it at least 6 months or longer to get  a semblance of the final result.  Even then you may wtill have swelling.

Different sides to nose after rhino

Unfortunately it is far too early to tell, especially without a photo.  For the first 3 months at least, swelling will vary day to day.  If you are feeling that bad I would suggest going in to talk to your doctor and have him reassure you.

Post op rhinoplasty expectations

Six weeks is considered early for rhinoplasty recovery, as most surgeons feel that the nose continues to heal and remodel for a full year.  So my first advice is to stay patient.  Asymmetry during healing is also common, as well as soft tissue "memory" of the presurgical nose shape.  Make sure you continue to work with your physician to voice your concerns.  That way you get your questions answered, and the support you need.  Your physician may also... more

6 Weeks Post-Op Rhinoplasty

It is not uncommon in the early stages of rhinoplasty recovery to see some asymmetries. Often these asymmetries resolve themselves during the healing period. It is usually 6 months before the nose is completely healed. Even though it is difficult, it is important to be patient during the early healing phase.

Rhinoplasty Healing Takes Many Months For Swelling To Subside

As you have only heard more than a dozen times by now, it is too early to judge what may be the final outcome of your rhinoplasty procedure. What may look asymmetrical at this point could well improve significantly in the next six months. Most immediate postoperative rhinoplasty patients have some initial asymmetry and the final result may well show some subtle areas of asymmetry as well. This is not really the best forum for you to be airing these rhinoplasty concerns. Talking to your... more

Nose still twisted after six weeks

After six weeks the nasal form has 'set' and the twist is likely to stay. The culprit may be memory in the cartilage much like a spring which can push the nose back after a repair. The best now is wait out a year and if the differences are a concern, revision may be necessary. Best of luck, peterejohnsonmd
