Why Aren't Lasers Suggested for Lump/scar After Mohs Surgery?

My closure-LUMP is now a bump? I have ugly closure. Tried SmartXide & has shrunk/flattened by 1/2 along w/ scar. Will do more treatments in 8 mo. Still not sure why derms refuse cortisone. Skin cancer is frightening but deformity makes you alone.

Laser for scars
This question really is an issue about scars and not mohs surgery. If you have an unsightly scar from a cancer reconstruction following a mohs surgery, i would suggest discussing all scar treatment and revision options with a plastic surgeon. Laser is not a typical choice for this.

Lumps after reconstructive surgery following Mohs surgery
Some reconstructive procedures commonly form lumps that later get a secondary procedure to flatten them, including skin grafts and flaps. Not all grafts and flaps develop these lumps, but some do. Depending on what circumstance is noted, corticosteroids can be injected into hypertrophic scars and pincushioning, or lumps. There may be an indentation that is permanent, and corticosteroids have risks as well as benefits that should be discussed with your surgeon.
