How Effective Are Lasers on Stimulating Hair Growth?

I started a series of treatments which start out at twice a week for 10 weeks, 20 minutes sessions under a hood which has the laser lights in it. I was also given vitamin supplements with a lot of impressive ingredients such as biotin and saw palmento. Also a shampoo and revitalizing treatment, and 5% minoxidol.
I'm a "young", 53 years old, with thinning hair. I realize age, hormones, and genes are part of the cause of my thinning hair. However, since it's always been on the thin side, I don't want to lose more. Any thoughts? Thanks so much!
