Laser Resurfacing to Reduce Red Spots from Actinic Keratosis Treatment?

After a treatment for actinic keratosis using Carac cream, I have red spots on my forearms. Will skin resurfacing using a laser diminish these?

Redness relief options include laser

This side effect of Caroc is usually self-limiting, but topical treatment with mild corticosteroid creams are the first thing to try, along with daily SPF, if the duration is unacceptable to you. Intense Pulsed Light, Fraxel Re:store laser and light chemical peel are just some of the procedural options that a cosmetic dermatologist can offer to fade these spots.

Laser resurfacing can worsen redness after Actinic keratosis treatment

Laser resurfacing can worsen redness of skin lesions after topical treatment of Actinic Keratosis. A vascular laser can help-the 532nm wavelength is best. However IPL treatments in the 550-650nm range are gentler and very effective at reducing redness. three treatments 6 weeks apart are required.

Vascular laser a nice choice for prolonged redness

If a patient consults with me about redness on or off the face, my first choice is a vascular laser, such as pulsed dye laser. This laser selectively targets hemoglobin, which is the component in red blood cells that binds oxygen. Resurfacing is a nonselective treatment, which may reduce redness but also may cause more redness. Pulsed dye laser is generally one of the least expensive laser treatments and typically involves no real "down time".
