The Lumenis Lightsheer is almost universally recognized as a great laser hair removal device (for light skin types) for several reasons. It delivers consistent permanent hair removal.  The "best" device is the right device for your skin color, hair color, density of hair combined with the operators experience.  LightSheer is a great device but not the only device to give very good results. If this is the device you want, you can contact Lumenis and give your location.... more

I agree with Dr. Shah in that not all lasers are appropriate for all skin types. Although I believe that the Lightsheer is excellent in providing good, consistent outcomes, we prefer to use a different technology called the long-pulsed Yag laser for darker skin types. When looking for the right practitioner to perform your treatments, make certain that they are knowledgable with treatments for your skin type and have the most appropriate laser. Trying to treat all persons and all skin types with only one technology is not always in the patient's best interest. In reading the feedback from practitioners, it would appear that each prefers whatever technology they are most comfortable with and which obtains the results that makes for satisfied patients. Because the Lightsheer has been around for quite a while, it is not unusual for many to utilize it. If they are achieving good results, there is no reason to abandon it in favor of something else. I would encourage you not to shop around for only the best/cheapest price. It is far more important to find a safe, reputable practitioner to render your treatments. Usually, those organizations that have more than one laser technology will be able to tailor your treatment plan to your skin type and hair type.

I do not think LightSheer is the best laser. It probably has been around for a long time. I have a LightSheer, an Alex, an ND-Yag and IPL, all of which I use for hair removal. These lasers are useful for different skin types and different people. "One size does not fit all" Most clinics can afford only one laser and therefore will try and make that one laser work for all skin types. Unfortunately that does not work out well. I hope that helps.
