I'm of East Indian decent with Fitzpatrick skin level 4 or 5. I have acne scars on my face with small pits. I still get 1 cystic acne per month. I was on Accutane 8 years prior and am presently doing laser hair removal. I've been to many dermatologists and even though they have the same technologies, they are all recommending different treatments. What do you recommend for treatment that is most effective and less likely to cause hyperpigmentation?

IPL is effective for hair removal with Indian heritage

Dear Munci, Before doing any light based hair removal, have a spot test performed. We've been successful with lighter Indian skin tones using our Palomar StarLux IPL. It takes around 10 treatments or more, depending on the area. I have caused facial burns with the StarLux in darker skin types, but thankfully, none have led to scarring or changes in skin pigment.
