Laser hair removal does not damage lymph glands

Laser hair removal will not damage lymph glands. the lymph nodes are the filtration system of the body and help clear immune cells. If there is considerable inflammation in an area, the lymph glands in the region might become enlarged, but this typically does not happen with laser hair removal.

I have had four out of eight underarm laser hair removal treatments at a highly recommended laser clinic centre here in Syndey. I have no doubt that the practioners are fully qualified however after my last two treatments, two glands within my right underarm became enlarged and very sensitive. The second time this happened was worse than the first. Will the laser be damaging the gland in anyway or is the treatment causing the gland to overwork which will ultimately damage the gland? I am concerned as I understand the importance of the glands in detecting cancer. I do have slightly reactive glands if I am ran down so I may be an unusual case.

I had IPL laser treatment for skin tightening and one week later had an enlarged submandibular gland/lymph node that after months of testing resulted in surgery to remove it. The lymph node/gland was abnormal, brown and hemmoragic. During this skin tightening treatment the tech. said to allow the laser to stay on the skin until I could not take the heat any longer. I did this because I trusted her. Now I wonder... I would not recommend this treatment to anyone with a history of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. I have been in remission for 11 years when this happened but obviously my lymph nodes were friable enough to have this happen. Good luck!
