Laser for Lessening Scar on Lip?

I had a few three days ago and probably should have had my lip sewed up but didn't. I think there will be a decent scar. Are lasers really effective in reducing scars? How soon after the wound is not scabbed over can I start? Also what can I do to lessen chances of scarring besides keeping my lip moist with vaseline?

Improving lip scars

I use a combination of laser and surgical excision to revise lip scars. Lip scars can be very obvious if not corrected.
