Laser Burns from 2.5 Months Ago (Laser Treatment)? (photo)

the burns crusted, fell off and left white skin that eventually turned into this horrible pigmentation. i have been to a skin doctor that concluded that it will go away completely and that all it needs is time and a lightning cream that he prescribed. i really wanted to know if this treatment will do the trick, or are there other avenues i should try? i spoke to an occupational therapist who said that it will not go away, it will definitely scar, and to try a "silicone sleeve". any thoughts?
