Laser Accent XL vs Laser Genesis - which is better for stretch marks?

I want to know which laser is better-Accent XL or laser Genesis for stretchmarks that are old and whites? Additionally, I read a article recently in a magazine that stated the Accent XL can get help get rid of older white colored stretchmarks. However, the clinic I am planning on getting treatment suggested that using the Genesis laser is better. Thanks

What about Pearl or Pearl Fractional for stretch marks?

The short quick answer, in my opinion, would be neither. Laser Genesis uses a laser light energy (1064 Nd:Yag) while Accent XL uses electrical energy (radiofrequency waves) to heat tissue. While both may cause some neocollagenasis, I don't believe either treatment can make signficant changes for "stretch marks". Our office has being looking at histology slides with DEEP FX fractional CO2 laser with some promising results.

I have used Accent XL in my practice for over a year.  While I have not used it specifically for stretch marks in most cases, I can tell you that my experience has been that stretch marks that are present on the skin I am treating are often improved in appearance with the treatment.  For example, Accent XL treatment of the abdomen in women after pregnancy when excess fat or loose skin is present along with stretch marks can yield dramatic reduction in the appearance of the stretch marks.  Many practitioners are combining Accent XL with fractional resurfacing laser treatments such as Pixel with even better results for stretch mark reduction.  It is unlikely that the stretch marks will ever be completely gone, but you should be able to see improvement with these treatments.
