Large Swelling After Lipoma Removal Surgery?

I had a subcutaneous lipoma removed from the back of my head under local anesthesia. A day later my head is swollen to a point that the shape of my head had been altered. Is this normal and if so how long will it take before the swelling subsides. The lipoma was 48x42x18mm in size

Swelling After Lipoma Removal?

Thank you for the question. The swelling that you describe after removal of lipoma is most likely related to accumulation of fluid; this can be either a seroma, hematoma, or a purulent (infection) collection. Evaluation by your surgeon is necessary as soon as possible. Best wishes.
