Knuckling in Implant - What Should I Do?

Hi, I had a BA six weeks ago. A to D cup with Allegan cohesive gel implants under the muscle as I had very little breast tissue. healing well, though neither have dropped fully. I have a very sharp corner/knuckle palpable in my right breast that is causing me some discomfort. It feels sore and is more visible when I lean forward. I'm wondering if it will go away with time? Any help/suggestions appreciated.

Sharp corner or knuckle after augmentation

It is difficult to determine what this knuckle is without an exam. It is very possible that it is the edge of the implant. But other things can cause this like firm tissue( scar), organized hematoma, to name a few. I would suggest seeing your surgeon for an evaluation.

Too early to tell

Possibilities include early swelling, a localized fluid or blood collection or an area where the tissues are thinner and the implant is more palpable such that your are feeling a fold or crease in the implant. You should discuss your concerns with your surgeon so he/she can make a proper assessment and advise you.

Breast Implant Palpability?

Thank you for the question. Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing whether the “knuckle” you are feeling will change as time goes on. Your plastic surgeon is in the best position to advise you given that he/she can examine you. If this remains a problem long-term there are solutions they can be discussed. Best wishes.
