i have overvite but i dobt want to go to jaw surgery procedure at all. I'm wondering if i can fix my lower jaw look by implanting silicon chin. Beside i dont have anyproblem with my bite i only concern about my profile look. Does chin implant help to improve my profile and also i feel my lower lip is a bit covered by my upper lip. Is there any chance to get it fixed by chin implant? Can you please guide me about implant sizes abd wich one is more suitable to get nore horizontal and angular face.
Answer: Chin implant and overbite? A chin implant can help strengthen your jaw and improve your profile. As you mentioned it will not change or improve your bite. If you want to avoid jaw advancement a chin implant will help. In terms of size and shape of the implant, this is far beyond what can be determined by looking at a couple of photos. Please seek a consultation for more detailed information. I hope this information is helpful for you.Stephen Weber MD, FACSDenver Facial Plastic Surgeon

CONTACT NOW Answer: Chin/Jaw Implant Consultation Without an exam your question cannot be answered. You will need to see an Oral/Maxillofacial surgeon to see if othognathic surgery, genioplasty or using an implant is best for your specific case. It should be noted that patients with severely weak jaws or abnormally functioning jaws may be better treated with other facial surgery (orthognathic surgery), although a chin augmentation may be an option at a later time. These patients should seek the advice of a plastic surgeon to determine which course is right for them. Here is some information to help you make this decision: Candidates for Chin Augmentation - Patients whose chin profiles are weak but have normally functioning jaws are candidates for Chin Augmentation. Many of these candidates have used injectable fillers in the past to strengthen the protrusion of their chins, but are looking for a permanent solution. If you are one of these patients, then you are a likely candidate for chin augmentation

Answer: Chin Implant When one has a significant under and overbite occlusal relationship, the chin/jaw are deficient in both a horizontal and vertical dimension. This is best corrected by a special chin implant, a vertical lengthening chin implant that brings the chin down and forward at the same time. This has historically only been possible with a sliding genioplasty but can now be done with this new type of chin implant. For special types of desired chin changes, a custom chin implant can be made as well.

Answer: Chin implant and overbite? While a chin implant will not correct an overbite, it will help to better balance the lower face. If you place your finger from your lips straight down, your chin should almost touch your finger. Having a chin implant will project the chin forward for the lower facial balance.
