What Should I Do for a Painful Boil on Inside of Nose After Surgery?
asked 8 months ago by Prof Jack in Boston

I had Mohs for a basal cell on the outside of my nose. Immediately afterwards I noticed swelling like a round boil that is extremely painful on the inside of my nose. It could be an ingrown hair. My doctor doesn't want to see me for three months but it really hurts and I'm afraid waiting will complicate things.

Infection after surgery
Too bad. A boil is an infection, see your doctor. This might be a stitch, or other wound issue leading to an infection. Don't wait until this explodes into a worse problem. Call him.

Office f/up
You need to explain the situation to your doctor and if you cannot speak to him directly ask to speak with the office manager. Once you do this, insist on coming in ASAP to get it examined.

You should be seen by an ENT surgeon for evaluation and treatment. Do not attempt to do this yourself as a serious infection could result.
