My jawline recedes into my neck and has no contour at all. What are my options for a more visible jawline? (photos)

Dear LaDeeDaaIn my experience, you can improve your neck and jawline and have the appearance of a longer more shapely neck with liposuction. This can be done under local anesthesia with or without sedation. Liposuction gives the surgeon the ability to sculpt the shape, break points and desired contour of the neck as needed.You may also try less invasive treatments such as Exilis and Ulthera. In my opinion, they are not likely to give you the same level of result.

For a more defined jawline to strengthen your profile (and help prevent the dreaded jawline "jowl" sagging), we use injectable fillers like Revanesse Versa - a filler known to limit swelling and give subtle, soft enhancements - or Radiesse. Using a cannula to limit pain and swelling, we inject on the bone in strategic points to get more lift and shaping, resulting in a more contoured lower face and defined, structured jawline.  The profile indicates no chin implant is indicated. Depending on the amount of subcutaneous fat a simple procedure under local anesthesia, which is liposuction, might make a very profound difference.

The best candidates for neck liposuction to create the jawline and remove excess fat are under 30 years old. The skin is very elastic and snaps right back to give a great result. It is also the least invasive of the surgical options available.RegardsDr J

Thank you for your question and photos.  Your muscles insert low in your neck giving you the shape that you describe.  A suture suspension necklift with some conservative liposuction would help to improve your neck contour.  Hope this helps.

The photograph demonstrates fatty deposits in the neck and a weak chin profile. Liposuction  in the neck can remove the fat above the platysma muscle, but it appears that there is sub- platysmal fat also present, which will require removal of  that fat and a platysma plasty. A small chin implant to be placed underneath the chin through the very same incision. For many examples, please see the video and the link below

Thank you for your question and posting appropriate pictures.  You seem to be a very good candidate for laser liposuction of your neck and jaw line.  This is genetic as you have mentioned does not change with weight loss.  This is a procedure typically performed under local anesthesia and has minimal downtime.

You appear to have some excess fat and a lack of chin projection.The best result may be from a combination of chin implant, neck laser lipo and platysmaplasty in that order of importance.If you are amenable to all three, your results could be striking. Just laser lipo will help, as will a chin implant.  The combination is what may deliver the home run.Look at the patient in the upper left in the included link.
