I have some ointment which contains kenalog which was given to me by a doctor to treat dry lips. Can I apply this ointment to my nose to improve it's appearance? I've had two rhinoplasties and my tip is full of scar tissue and I have a bony callus on the bridge of my nose.

Not okay to apply topical kenalog ointment to the nose after rhinoplasty

I would recommend that you not self treat your nose by applying the kenalog you have around. Although a kenalog injection by your surgeon may help with scar formation after surgery topical steroid won't improve this scar or the callus on your bridge. Rather chronic steroid on the skin has many unwanted side effects such as skin thinning and the formation of spider veins.

Post rhinoplasty

I would never recommend self treatment after a cosmetic procedure. Often patients while well meaning create problems for themselves by initiating treatment after surgery or delaying treatment after surgery without the knowledge of their physician. This is a dangerous and slippery slope.
