Earlobe keloid removals run $500 per earlobe
Keloids on earlobes are very common in blacks and are usually surgically removed for about $500 per earlobe under local anesthesia. Afterwards compression or clipon earrings are worn for 6 months and occasional cortisone injections are done monthly as well.

Keloid removal of the earlobe
I have removed many keloids from the earlobes of both men and women. The removal of the keloid is not difficult but the post surgical management is crucial. I often use steroid injections during and weeks after the actual procedure. On occasion, compression of the area is needed. After successful removal, I do not recommend piercing the earlobe in the future. This can only lead to recurrent keloid formation.

Earlobe keloid treatment
The problem with keloids is their tendancy to recur. Treatment options include steroid injections for small ones, excision plus steroids for moderate ones plus postop compression earrings, and excision and radiation for recurrent ones. There is a great plastic surgery group in Charlotte - please call them for a visit.

Earlobe Keloids
I recommend you see either a Plastic Surgeon or a Dermatologic surgeon. Although keloid removal in itself is not hard, keloids often come back. Therefore, the patient needs to be treated after excision with various regimens of wound compression and even radiation.
