Juvederm side effects - discussion

My derm told me there's no difference between juvederm and restylane. She said both gave long lasting natural looking results for wrinkle treatment. but googled juvederm and their official site sure makes it sound more effective. Has anyone heard about Juvederm side effects?

Restylane is lumpier than Juvederm. Both only last 3-4 months (used on upper lip). Long time user of collagen which Doctors no longer use. Make more money on Restylane and Juvederm. Cost twice as much or more and really not much difference in results. Last same amount of time 3-4 months.

I had Juvederm done by a popular "cosmetic dermatologist" in August and now it is March. I thought it was lumpy and I didn't like it for awhile, and was massaging the lumps. But in 2 weeks people said I looked great. I made an appt. at my regular dermatologist for a restylane touch up this time, as a friend of mine swears by it. But I think there is still some Juvederm left as I still look pretty good. I hear that the success of either product has to do with the way it is injected. I wanted to give my regular derm. a chance with the restylane because that's all he uses and he has had a lot of success and no problems so far. Besides the nasal labial folds, I have some tricky areas that need filling near the mouth corners so I hope he is very skilled. I also hope that I can clearly explain the results I'm looking for. I've read all the responses and they are helpful. Keep posting. These fillers are new and we need to hear from as many as we can.

Hi! Just had juvederm injected into my lips. So far everything is looking pretty good. Although I suffered an intense headache following the procedeure. My question is: My doctor used Juvederm 18 to augument my lips. Why did he use 18 versus #30 or #24.?

several people have commented that after the injection that they did not see the area fill in. the area will fill in over time since the juvederm and restylane with slowly incorporate water and with increase in volume. if the area is injected with too much then it may bulge. I you can take the discomfort you will get better results not using anesthesia.

I HAD ALLODERM IMPLANTS ON MY LIPS DONE ON MARCH 22, MY BOTTOM LIP LOOKS GREAT BUT MY UPPER LIP IS NOT NOTICEABLE AND I CAN FEEL THE IMPLANT ABOVE MY LIP. HOW CAN THAT HAPPEN? WITH THAT BEING SAID I WOULD LIKE TO ENHANCE THE UPPER LIP DO I HAVE TO WAIT A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME BEFORE I CAN TRY JUVIDERM?

Hi Angie, You need to speak with your doc that placed the Alloderm into your upper lip to find out why you feel it above your lip. At this point, if the swelling from your Alloderm procedure has subsided, it is safe to add a little Juviderm or Restylane to your upper lip. Remember that your lower lip should be about 30% larger/fuller than your upper lip to avoid having your lips look "funny". Good luck. Dr. P

Hi I understand your dismay, I to had paid a prominent Board Cert. Plastic Surgeon to inject my forehead furrows with Juvederm. The nurse said he used less than half the syringe. The area appeared bumpy for about a week and I feel it did not make much of a change. I also received a headache similar to "brain freeze", the next day. My pain leavel was about a 5, when he was injecting. I wish I could tell others in my area about my experience. I have no recourse, everthing seemed so vague. Results are different they say and of course they are. When it is a Dr. you would not dare to complain and ask for your money back. I think technique and skill are the key. It makes me very leary to trust anyone because they are are a MD. This was not cheap and I am not wealthy. Maybe, The King is not Wearing any Clothes.

I had Juvederm injections under my eyes Aug 6th in preparation for my highschool reunion. I have lumps and still have bruising. That's been almost two months. My doctor is highly respected and a board certified plastic surgeon. I only have a week before my reunion and I look like a freak. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I think the best bet is to do research and drive far, if need be, to find a good practitioner who specializes in injectible fillers. I had a disaster with Juvederm with Dr. K in Metairie. I cannot believe he would let me walk out of his office looking this ridiculous. The man can't possibly think this looks good! If nature had cursed me to look this way, i would pay money to get myself fixed. It kills me that I paid him to give me bulging bags under my eyes to make me look old and ugly. And the swelling is gone, so I am stuck with these hard, protruding bags that were not there before. Everybody would tell me how beautiful I was before. All i wanted to do was fill in some hollows that were forming to look refreshed, and I now look ugly and old. Why did I do this to myself??? Please girls, be aware and do your homework before abusing your face. I am so depressed. Does anyone know of a good Juve doctor in the New Orleans Metro area? Thanks so much!
