Is there a permanent way to reduce Rhinoplasty scar tissue?

I had Rhinoplasty a year ago, and just visited with my surgeon today for a check-up. It looked amazing when the splint came off. But now, after a year, the bottom half of my nose is swollen, and he says it's scar tissue. He injected it on the spot, and told me to come back in 2 months for more injections.

After he injected it today, it seems to have gotten even more swollen, and it's quite depressing. Is this normal? Will this go down, or will the scar tissue/swelling gradually continue to get worse? I'm concerned that my nose could be deformed.

Since you mentioned the steroids are not a permanent fix, will I have to go in for injections regularly from now on?

Thank you so much.

Hello. I am going through the exact same thing. I had a rhino exactly a year ago. I went in for my one year appt. with my nose tip and columella still completely hard and swollen. The plastic surgeon gave me my first steroid injection. She never said if it was swelling or scar tissue. Are you taping or massaging your nose now?

I m aso approaching my one year rhinoplasty. 3 months after surgery, I thought I had the dream nose I've always wanted. And then my nose began to deviate considerably, and my dr. Said that scar tissue was pulling my nose one way. With a crooked nose, dr. Recommended a revision. But I was adamant about alternatives, so he said to massage my nose. Then it started to improve drastically. And I was very pleased with the results. Kenalog shots didn't help me much. Try massaging religiously. Ask for the correct way to massage and monitor the outcome. Wish u the best!

Yeah! I just got a nose job like almost 2 months ago. Its still swollen and there is scar tissue where the bump was (making it look big again.) I was/ am pretty disappointed. But the good news My doc said he will give me those injections in a month of so. and YES. You nose will swell up for like one day because of all the injeciton and gradually decrease. tahts what he said! so don't worry! Also dont touch you nose!!! its STILL healing. remember the bone was broken and the cartilage was tampered with. its going to take a while to really heal well! if you touch it, you'll mess it up!

Some people manipulate your nose and others say if you touch it, you'll mess it up. how can touching your nose ever so slightly mess it up? Either way I am going to stop.
