Hyaluronic acid is a normal substance found in the body and as such there is normal turnover. It is broken down by hyaluronidase (an enzyme). Not sure why you would put it on your skin; it would be an expensive skin cream! Good Luck!
I've read the molecules are to large to penetrate the epidermis.

The topical hyaluronic acid creams function in a different way then the injectable hyaluronic acid. The topical form is applied to the skin and act as a super moisturizer that hydrate the skin and plump it. Another thicker form of hyaluronic acid masks is used to attract more water from the air. Hope that helps.
Julie, Regarding your question about hyaluronic acid being absorbable through the skin. Products such as Restylane and Juvederm, two commonly used wrinkle fillers or plumping agents, will not cross the skin barrier. However, there are topical formulations such as Hydrating B5 gel, a Skinceuticals product,... more
Since Restylane is injected as a volume enhancer and wrinkle filler, I am not sure why you might be asking about transcutaneous absorption of the molecule. My guess however would be that it could not migrate through the skin barrier.

Hyaluronic acid has a molecular size as does the pore opening. I was curious if anyone had read or studied factual product penetration. A lot of skin creams don't actually absorb as they advertise, simply due to size of molecule. I will continue to research. Thank you

This is a very good question Normally hyaluronic acid cannot penetrate the skin. It can act as a moisturizer and sits on top of the skin and does so. It is a large molcule and this would be frankly impossible. However, when it is micronized, or chopped into fragments, it can penetrate the epidermis and be absorbed into the dermis. This is part of the nanotechnology you might have heard about. There are two products I know of that use minronization and whose hyaluronic acid can penetrate. These are Bionect and Hylira. This does not mean these are the only products that can penetrate into the dermis. These are the only ones I personally know of, there probably are others. Dr. Simon, mentions Skinceuticals Hydrating B5 gel. I know this contains hyaluronic acid; I do not know whether it has been micronzed.

whats causes the darkness of the inner eye area close to the nose; not under the eye but the area from the tear duct to the nose?
