Can IPL Be Used to Treat Scars?

I had a mole removed by radiosurgery. It was bright red, and over the last 7-8 months has become lighter, a brown color (not dissimilar to the mole). The doctor who did it said initially it would take 6 months to fade, I went back and another doctor told me it would take an extra year to become skin-colored.

Can IPL be used to treat the pigment of the scar? I've read it can be used on "red" scars, though mine is only red when I shave over it, but IPL is for brown pigmentation too, I think.
