IPL Side Effects? Raised Area/Rash?

Hello! I've had treatment via IPL laser a few times the last time on Oct 27th, he tried to get some broken capillaries aggressively and zapped one particular area a few times. Over one week later now I have a small agitated area, blotchy, red in color - slightly raised. When I called to ask they just said to put cortisone 1% w aloe on it. Eventually will go away. Looks like "tight" skin as if it was burnt by wax or something but not. Any tips/advice/suggestions? Please. I'm a hypochondriac!
