IPL Caused Broken Capillaries. Normal?

3 weeks ago I had my first session of IPL. Over the next week on the left side of my face I broke out in severe spots that would crust and felt infected. When I spoke to the therapist she told me this was normal. While I expect certain after effects, this just did not seem normal to me. So now 3 weeks on and the marks from them are just clearing up, but I have been left with broken capillaries on that side of my face. I didn’t know this could happen and now really upset – is this normal?
