Invisalign with teeth extraction or any other good options?

Hi all, I had my first consultation today with an orthodontic on the possibility of using invisalign to correct my overbite and lower/upper teeth protrusion (please see photos attached). His recommendation was that I need to have 4 bicuspids extracted for the 2-year treatment to produce the desired result (flat teeth and no/less overbite). I am a bit concerned about teeth extraction as they look healthy, and so I will be seeking more opinions from other orthodontics shortly. Having noted the great advice you all give on this forum, I thought I'd throw this to you as well for your opinions on the best treatment options. It would be great if could go invisalign owing to the nature of my work. However I am quite open to other treatment options, and your suggestions would help in my discussions on the next consultations. Thanks guys. Bob33.

Why are extractions necessary?

Just read the answer from Dr. Singer...I can't believe that a doctor would say such things as "most people use extractions because they are too lazy to move a lot of teeth" This is such B.S. Here is a newsletter that I wrote dealing with the extraction question...hope it helps! In response to another doctor’s comments about how wrong extractions for orthodontics is I am providing copy from a newsletter I wrote on this subject…If you REALLY want to know about this... more

I would also agree that comments by Dr. Singer are off base. Dentists are not too lazy so disregard the answer. Dr. Waxler provides you with some wonderful information. Good luck with your decision

Extractions

Most people use extractions when they are too lazy to move a lot of teeth - it is easier and they can do it at a much cheaper fee. I would advise you get more opinions and see if someone else has a plan that doesn't involve extractions. Your lower face seems to have nice proportions and extraction therapy could make you look sunken in and older looking like an older man.

Thanks for the suggestions. I just realised that I didn't upload all the photos to make it easier for you to comment, and it seems it is no longer possible to upload them at this stage. Sorry about that. I have had a second consultation today, and the commendation seems more reasonable. It consists of expanding the lower arch and doing IPR for the upper arch to make space and reduce to some extent the protrusion. Thanks guys.
