Can Invisalign Remove an Underbite?

only option i am willing to take is invisalign, operations and metal braces are definately out of the question for me. i just want to know if invisalign can realy help remove an underbite or at least reduce it significantly. i would not mind teeth removal from the lower jaw.

Invisalign and underbite correction

Invisalign may or may not be able to fully correct your overbite (in this forum we cannot really accurately diagnose a case like yours). We now use Invisalign for major corrections

Just a couple years ago, most Invisalign orthodontists did more moderate corrections with Invisalign. Today we are correcting underbites and overbites etc. If the back teeth are not in good positions (called Class I), then likely rubber bands will be needed to get the correction needed. I have now corrected several Class III cases, with the help of rubber bands worn inconspicuously at the sides of the mouth near the cheeks. It can work great! Good luck. more

Underbite with Invisalign can be complicated

Often the underbite changes are minimal unless using a complex approach with bonded attachements and elastics.  At that point, the process is NOT invisible, and tooth colored brackets and wires are more predictable and faster.  The short answer is "probably" but a thorough discussion with your dentist or orthodontist will be important to determine if your goals can be achieved.

You do need to find a qualified Invisalign dentist, have your records taken, and most importantly - discuss with him/her what your goals are for your case.  When you case is being developed - you will be able to see a time lapse video of the results that Invisalign will achieve.  You... more
