14 days ago I had a breast uplift and my right nipple seems sown differently and the nipple seems almost "covered" over by skin and the incision. I didn't notice because I didn't want to look but at my 1st visit my Dr said all looked great and don't worry about the right nipple it will take care of itself, so THEN I looked and I do not see much changing. It feels different too because the nipple doesn't pop out. I called the nurse, I have a 2 week follow up in 5 days.

Nipple inverted after breast lift

Nipple inversion is when the nipple does not project forward with cold or stimulation, and sometimes the pull with a breast lift or breast reduction can cause the nipple to pull in temporarily, especially if there was a tendency for the nipple to invert beforehand. You are in the early part of healing after 14 days and the nipple will shape and relax for most. After several weeks you can begin to massage and pull the nipple forward, just a women who might have a natural inversion. Best... more

Nipple Inversion?

Nipple inversion refers to the absence of projection of the nipple, as opposed to a normally outward projection (eversion). In your case, having recently had surgery, this inversion may be temporary. On the other hand, it may be necessary to correct the inversion after a few months if it is not “self correct”. Nipple inversion correction generally involves cutting of the lactiferous ducts ( that normally deliver milk to the nipple); this operation... more

Inverted Nipple after Uplift

Nipple inversion after breast surgery sometimes occurs because of streching on the the natural "connective" tissue of the nipple. This frequently resolves spontaneouly, as it is just a matter of time for the swelling to settle down. Many times the "inverted " side was less responsive before surgery than the "normal" side and this may go unnoticed and may contribute to the current appearance. Be patient, and discuss this with your plastic surgeon. more

Inverted Nipple after Breast Lift

Hi Mishawaka3736, It can take a while to see the final result after a procedure such as this, and there are many reasons why you may have a certain appearance. The first is if you looked this way before; but I'm assuming that's not the case since you seems to be surprised at the way you look now. Secondly, it sounds like you're describing some swollen tissue over the nipple itself. If that's the case, it should resolve pretty well on its own, although that... more

What is an Inverted Nipple?

Iatrogenic or surgically caused inverted nipple is an extremely rare complication of Breast surgery. If you could post a before and after photo of the nipple in question it would be so helpful. Is it possible you had this "inversion' prior to the operation? Well in any case some correct after a few months of healing, while a inverted nipple minor operation maybe needed. Wait for 2 to 3 months before having the revision in my opinion. Best from MIAMI

What is an Inverted Nipple?

Occasionally  after breast tisuue rearrangement such as after breast lift the breasts are much more swollen than after more limited breast surgery. Thus ,the excessjve swelling can cause some form of nipple inversion . 14 days after the procedure may not be enough for the nipple to resume its normal shape .Be more patient  and let your surgeon follow this issue.

Inverted nipple

An inverted nipple is just that inverted. It does not stick out from the areola tissue.  Without photos it is hard to say what is going on.  It may be scarring, or swelling.  Check with your surgeon. If it is swelling it will probably get better on its own.

Please discuss with your plastic surgeon.  Submit a photo and this would help determine what the problem is.  Sometimes breast tissue is removed during a breast lift.  The nerves or ducts may have been cut in the procedure and this will change the function and appearance of the nipples.  Talk to your surgeon about your results.
