I'm 32 years old and in less than a year, I went from a 38DD to now a 38DDD. I try to exercise but, it is difficult with the additional weight of my breasts. I also get cramps on both sides of my upper back that are often painful. Im losing weight exercising however, the weight in my breasts are not reducing at all. What makes it worse is during my period they swell up to almost a size bigger. Is there any type of insurance that would cover or help cover the cost of a breast reduction and lift?
Answer: Insurance coverage for breast reduction Most insurance companies offer coverage for breast reduction, but their criteria may vary from company to company. Make sure that you have documentation of your symptoms with your primary care doctor and that they write this in the chart. This includes pain, skin irritation, rashes, etc, as well as any treatments that they have recommended, such as anti-inflammatory medications, physical therapy, rashes, exercise. You also need some followup visits to show that these nonsurgical remedies have not solved the problem. Some insurance companies also require that you are not very overweight, so if you are, try to lose some weight to show that weight loss will not solve your problem as well. Have this documented also, and when you seek your board certified plastic surgeon, the more documentation that you have with you, the better your chances at getting an approval from the insurance company. The amount of breast tissue that they will require to be removed is related to your height and weight (or your body surface area). If the surgeon does not remove enough tissue, they may deem the procedure "cosmetic" and deny coverage. You can even call your insurance company to find out, but it is often difficult for the patient to get the specific criteria.

CONTACT NOW Answer: Breast Reduction and Insurance You should be a good candidate for insurance to cover your breast reduction surgery. Policies can vary, but most require that you need to have at east 500 grams of breast tissue removed to qualify. That usually equates to a DD cup. In addition, you need to have documented what you have tried to alleviate your symptoms, such as physical therapy, analgesics, special bras, etc. If you have a Human Resources Dept. at work, they may be able to help you choose which insurance company will cover your surgery. You might also try your plastic surgeons office and ask them what insurance company they recommend that they have had success with. Good luck!

Answer: What insurance will cover a breast reduction? I'm now a 38DDD Based on your description you may be a good candidate for breast reduction surgery; this operation tends to be one of the most patient pleasing operations we perform. The best way to obtain insurance coverage for breast reduction surgery involves some “hoops” to jump through. The more documentation you have (for example, from your primary care doctor, physical therapist, chiropractor etc.) the better when it comes to obtaining insurance “authorization” for the procedure. This documentation and letter/pictures from your plastic surgeon will help you obtain authorization. Make sure you are working with a well-trained/experienced board-certified plastic surgeon who can demonstrate significant experience achieving the outcomes you would be pleased with. Good luck; prepare to be persistent when dealing with health insurance companies.

Answer: What insurance will cover a breast reduction? Many insurance companies cover breast reduction, you'll need to call around your area for specifics. The problem is that they only cover reductions that fit their specific requirements so you may get signed up, then see your doctor who submits the request to the insurance company only to find out they have denied you!!
