Why Do I Have an Incision Below Belly Button After Tummy Tuck?

I had a tummy tuck about 7 months ago. I have lower tummy scar as well as an incision below the belly button. I've looked at other after pictures and there just seems to be a belly button. Why do I have an incision below? Does this mean that not enough skin was removed? Because I have some excess skin as well and when I bend over, my skin still wrinkles.

Incision below belly button

It is unclear to me what operation you actually had.  I agree with your assessment that extra skin still remains even in a standing position.  Have a discussion with your surgeon.

Which tummy tuck: mini, full, extended, marriage or midi (mid-way between mini and full) as well as endoscopic or laparscopic

Are you sure you had a tummy tuck? While I see a portion of the scar along your right hip, it does not seem to travel across your pubic region. There are a variety of tummy tuck modifications such as the mini, full, extended, marriage or midi (mid-way between mini and full) as well as endoscopic or laparscopic (endocorporeal) versions. It is difficult to precisely know what you had done based on this photo.

Scarring after Tummy Tuck

Standard tummy tuck scars are low hip to hip, and one completely around the circumference of the umbilicus. Could you have had a mini-tummy tuck? Otherwise I do not have a good explanation for the scar inferior to your belly button. An open discussion with your plastic surgeon could clarify for you.

Incision Under Belly Button?

To be honest, it is difficult to say why you have this scar right underneath your belly button.  Occasionally, you cannot get the entire old belly button hole to meet the lower incision, so you need to turn that into a vertical incision.  However, it is very unsual to have that incison so high.  It is as if there was very little pull at all from your tummy tuck. This is something that you should address with your surgeon if you still go for follow-up visits. more

Tummy tuck variations on a theme

You've got skin laxity above and below your belly button- you should have had a full tummy tuck that translocated skin laxity from above your belly button to the lower abdomen. This involves a scar around the belly-button - a so-called 'full' or 'standard' abdominoplasty. From the appearance of your photo- it looks like you had some variation of a mini-tummy tuck which was inadequate for the skin laxity you have.
