Doctors continually disagree on this topic, can you help me sort this out? If I have my 10 year old implants removed, will my pec muscle continue to deform the appearance of my breasts when flexed? Will there continue to be so much movement pulling my breasts appart? I find that when I workout my pec muscles separate my breasts in an unflattering scrunched way. I just want the implants out, but I don't want to see them continue to separate and crease sideways when I lift anything.

Removing subpectoral breast implants

In general, regardless of how long they've been in, breast implants that were properly sized and positioned under the pectoralis muscle will not stretch or distort the breast and when removed should leave the breast looking and acting the way it would have looked had the implants not been there. The distortion caused by flexing the pectoralis muscle is largely because the muscle is stretching over the implant. If the implant is not there, there is little tendency to distort on... more

Pec muscle movement

If your implants were under the muscle, the muscle is comonly detached inferiorly and a bit medially.  Removing the implants may improve the deforming motion but it may not. It is very difficult to impossible to resecure the muscle to the chest wall successfully.

Breast deformity after augmentation.

If the implants are removed after having been in the sub-muscular position for 10 years the surgeon needs to do a periprosthetic capsulectomy so that the muscle will scar back to the chest wall and the deforming motion that you now get goes away. You need to see a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who is willing to do this procedure rather than just implant removal.
