Impacted Canine Tooth Exposure Vs False Implant?

I am 19 years old and one of my canine teeth is impact and my baby tooth below that is still intact. I have braces and my orthodontists had told me we would remove my baby tooth and pull down my permanent canine. Now my orthodontist is saying that could take up to 4 years to get the permanent one into place. He is recomending extracting my impacted permanent tooth and putting a crown on my baby tooth to make it look permanent. Will the fake tooth look like a permanent? How much cost difference?
