I had surgery over 10 years ago. I am 65 years old and really hoping that I won't have to undergo another full-fledged surgery. I guess the implant I was given has shifted. Does it appear that a filler of some sort may restore the shape?
Answer: Gortex Nasal Implant It is very common over time for patients to experience what you are seeing. As we lose soft tissue with age, implants, especially Gortex can become noticeable. An experienced surgeon should examine you. There is a long list of injectable fillers that can provide an interface between the implant and your skin to remedy the situation. This is worth trying prior to any surgical intervention. If removed, there are other options now available, your own cartilage being the best, to keep the aesthetic appearance that you wish.

Answer: Gore tex nasal implant replacement. It would be unusual to need a replacement of the nasal implant if it has not become infected, and is in a stable position for so many years. We can't tell what is up without more information and an examination, though for dents or an apparent irregulaity, fillers might be an option to explore.

Answer: Nasal dorsal implants over time Thanks for the photo, and your great question. Gore-tex implants should not shift much over time. However, the skin and soft tissue around them can change. It may be that the depression in the photos is the lateral edge of your implant. If the implant itself has not been giving you any trouble, then absolutely try a filler. I would recommend a reversible one like Restylane, so if it does not do what you hope it will it can be dissolved away. There are risks to fillers in this area, so be sure you see a board-certified expert with experience injecting around the nose. Hope that helps!

Answer: Replacing Gortex Implant You need an examination to determine if your Gortex implant is mobile; this is very rare 10 years after placement. Hopefully the depression can be corrected with the injection of fillers which would not be permanent but certainly a lot easier. Also consider the placement of a small cartilage graft without removing the Gortex; this would be permanent.
