Does ice prevent periosteal remodeling after a bump in the nose? Is applying ice or a cold pack to the nose dangerous in any way to the nasal bone and cartilage?

Ice on the Nose
Ice for 24 to 48 hours after nasal trauma or surgery is helpful in minimizing swelling. It will not interfer with healing. Some patients will use the ice longer because they find it is soothing.l
+2
Doral hump
The ice is good for swelling and should only be done and it is only useful for the first 48 hours. After that there is no need for icing.
It does not interfere with healing.

Ice will not prevent remodeling
Ice will not prevent any remodeling of the nasal hump after a face gets hit in the nose. This is due to osteocyte and chondrocyte regrowth, and ice will have no effect upon this process.

Nasal remodeling
Ice after nasal surgery is great for swelling and pain. However, give it 20 minutes breaks to prevent getting frostbite as the skin may be numb. Also, when you apply the ice packs do this gently as placing the packs forcefully on the nose may cause distortion of the work done.

Ice is beneficial for injuries to the nose
The judicious use of ice following a nasal injury can be nothing but beneficial. It is important to give your skin a break when applying ice especially if there is any degree of numbness. Never put salt in the ice, this will lower the temperature and can cause a full thickness skin injury.

Ice for nasal bump
If you sustained an injury to your nose, and you have swelling, ice can be beneficial to reduce swelling during the early post-injury period. It should not impact the healing in a negative fashion.

Ice to help against nasal bump
When you are bumped in the nose, inflammation is the healing process to recover from the injury ( I assume that's what you are referring to when you say periosteal remodeling).
Ice will help the healing process to reduce swelling and bruising and avoid an exaggerated healing response that can lead to permanent bump.
In essence, feel free to ice, 20minutes on , 20minutes off for 48 hours.

Ice will not compromise periosteal remodeling of the nose
Ce mai faceti Gabriella,
No. The mere application of crushed ice to reduce swelling has not been shown to modify periosteal healing and remodeling. But a forceful pressure or blow, especially in the early healing period (first 2 months) may laterally dislodge the nasal walls.
No aveti griza (forgive my spelling...).
