Hyperpigmentation - Not Likely Melasma - What Else Can it be?

My skin was quite fair (computer skin analysis/dr analysis burning at 7 minutes). My skin has all this brown now that did not develop during pregnancy but developed while nursing when hormones are suppressed. I haven't been well. Everyone just assumes melasma. Other ideas to consider I can ask a dr?
