Hyperpigmentation After KTP Laser (Removing Brown Spots)

Hello, I am olive skin and had KTP laser done last winter to remove brown spots and my brows spots faded. I went again in May for touch ups on my arms and face, and this time I am left with hyperpigmentation and more brown spots. Doctor told me to come back in October and he'll do it for free. I am VERY afraid that it will get worse. Any advice? Is there a better laser for brown spots on olive skin? Should I NOT be using laser again now that I have hyperpigmentation?
