A: Everyone is different, but expect 2 weeks or so of bruising

Shahram Salemy, MD

Every patient heals a bit differently after neck rejuvenation procedures, but I tell mine to expect around 2 weeks of bruising-- some heal quicker, some slower. One tip I have found helpful to reduce the amount of bruising is to have my patients start on the over the counter herbal medicine Arnica before the... more

A: One to 3 weeks... it varies...

Michael A. Bogdan, MD

Bruising after facial surgery varies. Be sure to follow your surgeon's instructions to the letter, and avoid medications that can cause bleeding or bruising (such as vitamin E, fish oil, aspirin, etc). Avoiding "overdoing it" in the early post-operative period can also decrease bruising. The... more

Swelling and bruising varies between different individuals. These points might help you with minimizing the swelling and bruising: 1-Stop all medications that could increase bruising e.g. Aspirin, coumadin, plavix. Some dietary supplements will do the same (fish oil, garlic, ginger etc...) 2-The use of arnica... more

You can also take Arnica Montana pills or apply cream which have been... more

A: Compression garment is key!

Robert M. Freund, MD

Neck lifts and Lipo almost always go well. I had a patient have a necklift 2 weeks ago and was filming a commercial in 7 days. My favorite way to minimize bruising and swelling is a compression neck garment. Other supplements and dietary changes help, but compression and good surgery are the key!

A: Neck lift and liposuction

Steven Wallach, MD

Swelling is normal after every procedure.  It is difficult to assess how much swelling you will incur because it really varies on an individual basis and the amount or work that is performed.

A: The average is 1-2 weeks for bruising.

Toby G. Mayer, MD

It should not be much with liposuction. It depends on what type of necklift you are having as to the amount of swelling and bruising. The more extensive the lift, the more swelling and bruising you will have. Most patients can go to a party 2 weeks later without visible signs of surgery.

A: Swelling and bruising may vary

Stella Desyatnikova, MD

Swelling and bruising after surgery may vary greatly, and depends on your surgeon and your skin type. However, in general, they may last about 2 weeks.
