How much does a tummy tuck cost?

I had 3 c-sections and planning to have a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) done, but I'm not sure how much a tummy tuck costs.  What are average tummy tuck prices?

A: Price of tummy tuck

Michael Law, MD

There is no 1 price for a tummy tuck since no 2 procedures are exactly alike. Beware of “price lists” offering cookie cutter surgery. Cutting costs by cutting corners in a tummy tuck can result in unfavorable results or possibly serious complications. After checking a surgeon’s background,... more

One should never shop by price alone for something as significant as a tummy tuck.  That being said, there are many of us who do these surgeries in an office operating room which can save you some money on facility fees. In my practice a full abdominoplasty takes about 2 hrs to perform and runs around... more

Prices for tummy tucks can vary based on the part of the country you live in as well as the individual surgeon. These can vary from $6000 or less to over $10000. Hi! This includes operating room costs, anesthesia, and recovery.  Beware of a lower fee.  They are cutting corners. For people who cannot afford this, I recommend a teaching hospital clinic (I teach at Lenox Hill Hospital), where the surgery is done by residents in training with supervision.

Tummy tucks range from $5000 to $9000. It depends on the extent of surgery and the time involved.  I would not shop based on price. This is a serious procedure and you don't want the K-mart of plastic surgery. On the other hand the most expensive surgeon, is not necessarily the best. You should be fully... more
