Sculptra if used with the recommended treatment schedule of two to three sessions can last up to 2 years; however, fat injection can also do the same. I find that use of spun fat and careful placement in one session has lasted for a minimum of 3 years.

I had Sculptra injected into both my hands to increase fullness. Within 1 month I had nodules on both of my hands. I have since gone to a plastic surgeon to have excised. I continue to develop more nodules requiring excision. I would not recommend at all.

Sculptra is considered A stimulatory filler meaning that it replaces lost volume by simulating your body to produce its own collagen. Sculptra is usually set up as a series of three injections spread about 4-8 weeks apart. Visible collagen production starts to show up about 3 months after the first injection. Patient normally achieve about 90% of their final results by 12 months. Long term studies have shown that at least 80% of the volume improvement is still noted 2 years after injections. Most patients have very satisfactory results at least three years out. There are a couple caveats with Sculptra and the hands. The first is it tends to require a fair amount of product, normally at least a full vial of product per treatment. Your provider should use a little more dilute mixture of the product than we use for facial treatments so it spreads a bit more. As with any Sculptra treatment, proper dilution and regular massage after the treatment are very important in preventing papules (1-3mm nodules than can form after Sculptra treatments).
